Apple cider vinegar for horses?

I heard that apple cider vinegar helps arthritis in horses. Is that true? Anyone know why it works? What dosage should I give a 6 year old OTTB with arthritis in her hocks? She gets grain 3x a day. Also where can you buy it? Thanks!
