Crap car or public transportation?

Alex, it really depends on where you live. If you live in large city where public transportation is good, then having a car would be a waste. Paying for parking, door dings, insurance is higher, more aggressive drivers, etc. If it's difficult to get around where you are, having a "beater" that can get you from point A to B might be a fine option.
