Swollen Pastern 1 month after injury?

Ok all I can tell you is what i do for and cut. My wb was hit by a truck back in Nov of 2003. He had severe lacerations to his knees and back fetlocks. After the first two days of wrapping I noticed the only thing swollen was his front fetlock where there was no cut. Vet came out and did an ultrasound, he had ruptured his lateral collateral ligament. He was wrapped with a splint for three months the lump never went away as it was scar tissue. For all of his wounds they were scrubbed daily till they lightly bled. I know it sounds horrible but it keeps the proud flesh away and the scar tissue down as it keeps blood flow to the wound and the tissue from dying. From his biggest wound on his knee which was about three inches round he only had a very small 1/4 in scar. It sounds to me that there is scar tissue build up.
